Today we walked on tired legs from Roncesvalles to Larrasoana. Our albergue in Ronscesvalles did not open until 6:30 am. Our tidy group was trapped, wanting to get on the road. When the door opened we all charged into the crisp morning air, with more than a half moon filtering through the clouds providing enough light, to see our way. The road was beautiful through forests and green fields. We got a bit lost at Burguete not seeing the turn off. We continued on the road and rejoined the trail later. We caw a new born colt just after birth trying to stand. Two guys from Scotland befriended us and we shared a few laughs. We are not finding many English speaking souls so we remain to ourselves enjoying the walk together. As we wanted them to take a picture of us to prove we were actually walking the camino, as usual Stu wanted to teach them how to use an iphone after the explaination of the third app, I had to take him by the ear to get him moving. Can you imagine three teachers trying to teach each other. All three of these retired professors, answering simple yes and no questions would take at least 45 minutes. It was time to step in and break it up. We marched on as usual and Stu was either watching his GPS or maps. We stopped for beer and chocolate eventually ending up at Larrasoana. At the albergue space was limited to just 44 beds. The line of bags with ours in the front suggested we had gotten there just in time. It is a challenge when the bathroom has only two toilets one for each sex an two coed showers and minimal water flow, but hot. This didn,t seem to faze our troop. Plans for tomorrow, Sunday, is to rise at 6 and go through Pamplona and past Cizur Menor to Zariquiegui. 16 beds only but full meals. We will see what happens.

ReplyDeleteBut...
We must have more blog! More blog! We only have one MotionX chart so far. I thought I was going to get those by email everyday. The map link in the chart is working, so that's fantastic.
And the pictures are too small. Clicking them only reveals the same size pic. Can't see the smiles on your faces! (John, is there anything I can do to help you with this? Or are those the size of the pics that Stu is sending? If so, Stu- send bigger pics!)
And we need more blog! More blog! Less beer, more writing! Don't worry, I'll drink more beer here for you, so that will still get accomplished. 15 miles and then a nap!?! Phooey, sleep on your time, now ours! We want to hear more details. We want to here everything!!
Keep your spirits up, we're all with you!
